VPIM is a protocol designed to allow voice mail exchange between disparate voice messaging systems over the Internet. VPIM looks up the target messaging system’s number in an LDAP Directory and addresses the voice messaging in an SMTP address format. VPIM converts the voice message to MIME for transport.
