LSL is part of Novell NetWare’s ODI implementation of the Data Link Layer. ODI divides the Data Link Layer into two sublayers: LSL (upper sublayer), and MLIDs (lower sublayer). When a NIC driver is written according to the ODI specification, LSL handles communication between upper- layer protocols and an MLID that is specific to that NIC.
