Ethernet that runs at 100 Mbps as opposed to the standard 10 Mbps is referred to as Fast Ethernet. There are two primary standards that have been proposed: 100BaseT and 100VG-AnyLAN. 100BaseT is also referred to as the IEEE 802.3u standard. Fast Ethernet and the 100BaseT standard are synonymous terms.
